Why I Became A Financial Advisor

By Nick Fisher, CFP®

Most of us can point to specific people or events that influenced our decisions and made a significant impact on how we live our lives. Growing up, I always wanted to find a career where each day would bring a new challenge and be intellectually stimulating, I would serve others and have a positive impact on those in my community, and I would be passionate towards the mission of my role. I found that with financial planning and experienced the impact an advisor can have on someone’s life and future through an internship I took with a local firm before college. I’ve always had an interest in the financial and investment world, but it was this experience that cemented my desire to use my skills and passion to help others.

First Steps

With my direction clear, going to college did more than just give me an educational foundation for my career; it confirmed for me that I didn’t want to work for a large corporation with the end goal of increasing their stock price. I wanted to use my talents in this fulfilling career by helping people make their financial dreams become a reality. I graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, specializing in finance and insurance.

After graduation, I dove right into the field, working as a financial planner and earning my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) credential.

Fast-Forward To Today

Now, with 8 years of experience in the financial planning profession, I work at WealthBridge Capital Management, spending my days helping retirees, medical professionals, and university employees achieve their goals and set themselves up for a secure financial future. I take the burden of financial management off their backs so they can focus on what they love, but still experience confidence that their money is working for them. As part of the WealthBridge team, I also teach the Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement course through Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio, striving to educate others on the importance of planning for retirement.

What makes my job fulfilling is the relationships I have the privilege of building with my clients. I don’t take the responsibility of helping people achieve their dreams lightly and continually strive to uphold my fiduciary duty, always putting my clients’ interests first. No matter what happens in the world or their lives, I want my clients to know that there is always someone in their corner, working tirelessly to put them on the path to success.
